This younger man had a round shaped face ever since he could remember and wished he could improve his appearance without looking like someone he wouldn't recognize. He did not know what he needed, a face lift NC style or a brow lift NC style, whatever he needed he was open to discuss. He drove from South Carolina to talk with Dr. Freeman since he had heard from several acquaintances that when it comes to facial aesthetics in the Southeast that he was the surgeon to see. After hearing his story and performing an examination Dr. Freeman outlined a surgical approach to obtain his desired outcome. First he felt the patient needed structural support and recommended a chin implant NC style and cheek implants while at the same time removal of some deep plane fat in the mid-face known as the fat pad of Bichet. These procedures improved the shape of the mid-face and jaw.  For his neck a North Carolina face lift known as a neck lift was recommended while at the same time a gland in his neck (the submandibular gland) was shaved to help improve the mandibular line. This last step is a procedure Dr. Freeman originally presented several years ago at the American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery as a way of improving the results of neck lift surgery. He has recently authored a book chapter on the same subject. This combination of procedures yielded the result the patient was hoping for and he was very happy he made the trip!
