Face Lift / Minituck

Facelift Model Image The aging process can cause wrinkles and loose sagging skin on your face. This could begin in your 40s, your 50s, or even later. Although the timing can be different, it happens to everyone. Whatever your age, if these changes have caused you to look older than you feel, there's something you can do. You can take action to improve your appearance with a face lift. Charlotte, NC, facial plastic surgeon Dr. M. Sean Freeman has spent his career pioneering innovative face lift techniques that produce better results with less discomfort.

The key to getting the look you want from your face lift is to choose the right cosmetic surgeon. Dr. Freeman is certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and has been performing only facial plastic surgery procedures since 1988. His SignatureLift has become one of the more popular procedures at the Center for Facial Plastic & Laser Surgery. The goal of a face lift performed by Dr. Freeman is to provide a rejuvenated appearance without making the patient look stretched or have that "operated-on" look. To achieve this goal, Dr. Freeman employs state-of-the-art deep-plane techniques as well as mid-face lift techniques that he pioneered.

Before Surgery

During the initial consultation, Dr. Freeman will conduct a careful physical examination. He will assess the thickness, texture and elasticity of the skin, and the severity of the patient's wrinkles and folds. The hairline will be examined to determine where incisions can be placed. Facial structure will be carefully considered and surgery individually tailored, each patient benefiting from Dr. Freeman's years of experience dedicated exclusively to aesthetic facial surgery.

Dr. Freeman's younger patients throughout the Southeast and North Carolina may be candidates for a face lift alternative called the SignatureLift; this option will be discussed with you during your consultation. If you also have sagging eyebrows, heavy or drooping eyelids, and bags under your eyes, you may want to consider a brow lift or eyelid surgery.

If you decide that you are not ready for surgery, the Center for Facial Plastic & Laser Surgery also offers a variety of skincare procedures such as BOTOX® Cosmetic, injectable fillers, and laser skin rejuvenation. Using his experience in this area, Dr. Freeman can offer patients an alternative to surgical facelifting. This approach, referred to as the "liquid facelift," uses injectable fillers to enhance facial appearance without the downtime of surgery.

Traditional Face Lift

During face lift surgery, incisions will be made that extend from your ear to your temples along the hairline. Skin and deeper tissue will be repositioned carefully, for a tighter, more youthful look that does not appear stretched or "worked on." A small incision beneath the chin may also be used to allow liposculpture of extra fat in the neck area.

You will be provided with a complete set of instructions to follow before and after surgery to ensure a comfortable recovery. Most of Dr. Freeman's North Carolina patients (as well as his patients from throughout the Southeast), have been able to return to their normal activities in approximately 10 to 14 days after facelift surgery. After swelling subsides, you will see an improvement in your appearance, although it may be several weeks before your final results are completely visible.

SignatureLift

SignatureLift Model Image Similar to the "weekend" facelift popularized by the media, the SignatureLift is a procedure that Dr. Freeman has developed over the past several years for younger patients who do not need a traditional facelift. The SignatureLift is also beneficial for patients who have previously had a facelift and are beginning to see new signs of aging. The advantage of the SignatureLift is that a patient can expect a younger-looking neck and jowl area with minimal recovery time.

SignatureLift Before and After Photos

The SignatureLift can be performed under sedation, in most cases eliminating the need for general anesthesia (although general anesthesia is still an option if you prefer). Swelling and bruising after the procedure are minimal. Sutures will be visible for 5 to 6 days, but these can be hidden by longer hair. Most patients are able to return to work after a few days.
